Redemptions Call

Image from Sound of Freedom Movie

I watched the movie Sound of Freedom and was overwhelmed by the personal sacrifice of one man to keep a promise to a Dad whose two children had been kidnapped into the world of child trafficking. It made me think of the power of one inspired person who believes in a mission or purpose. It made me want to, even more, live out my life purpose. The movie is about the dark side of the world of child trafficking and

Life of Smalls

I am finding that I tend to be ok with the big challenges of life, but that I often hold onto the small day-to-day challenges – little pains, dealing with the healthcare bureaucracy, being tired, etc. I keep these things to myself and don’t give them to God as I want to. I need to pray about why this is so. I know Matthew 10:28 “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall

Hiding Pain

“Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin (a falling away, lapse, slip, false step, trespass, sin) you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”Galatians 6:1-2  “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I

Disaster’s Hope

It was complete and utter devastation….obliteration on a scale seldom seen….chaos where beauty and order had just stood.  Virtually everything flattened.  Metal poles warped and distorted like twist ties on a loaf of bread.  Majestic trees snapped in two like dry spaghetti…flatted like pixie sticks.  It was as though a bomb went off where homes once stood….contents strewn far away…like fine china shattered on a marble floor….into a million pieces.    This is Tuscaloosa, Alabama. On my way to Mississippi recently, I stayed at a Hampton

And a bird sang out

Is it true that God is really with us…all the time?…even when things seem out of control, disorganized, and life’s purpose seems hollow?  Is God still there when people hurt you, when you get slighted or when you feel inferior to everyone around you? Ever been in a meeting where personalities clashed, emotions roared and feelings were hurt.   Ever sling a little mud back at the person that’s attacking you?   I have. I recently had one of those meetings where

The Child I Love

I met a lady recently who was, unfortunately, experiencing the pains of divorce. During our chat, I asked if she had children.  Nearly instantly a smile a mile wide came over her, she became animated and nearly burst with pride….yes, she had a child, a young daughter. She went on to share all sorts of stories about her daughter’s mannerisms, her full-of-life personality and even her beautiful hair. Pride and love flowed from this mother in sharp contrast to the sadness of the topic of divorce

My Psalm 22

You are For Me When the pit of darkness holds, my dearest and my best; the screams from my heart reach out, from my soul’s unrest. I am ready for your hand, to protect and hold at bay; the evils that surround me now, while my soul is gray. Oh Lord you’ve not forgotten thee, nor disdained my state; Nay you have overcome them all no longer do I wait. Psalm 22 (bolds added) My God, my God, why have
