I’ve been reading a devotional book by Randy Alcorn that features portions of sermons by the great Charles Spurgeon. The book is on heaven and it describes beautiful and profound aspects of heaven in a real and tangible way.
You may be like the Apostle Paul and yearn for that place, yet God has a plan for us here on planet earth. But one day….one day, we shall see as never before and experience a love so deep we cannot explain it. I pray this poem gives you comfort and encourages you in your view of heaven.
For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling. Romans 8:1-2
Together with Our Sacred Friend
All the saints shall see His face
And see in full His ancient grace
We’ll shed old idols and need for fame
Instead we’ll joy in His acclaim
Our hearts shall see as ne’r before
And be so full but still want more
Our eyes will see His realms unknown
And sing His praise, in heavenly tone
We’ll see old friends and parents too
Whose hearts are now no longer blue
And when His love we fully grasp
His hand we’ll touch and ever clasp
Our joy and life shall ever be
So rich, so full as all the sea
When death and sorrow ‘er subside
We’ll join Him as His holy bride
We’ll sup with Him forever more
And dance along His endless shore
Of love and beauty there is no end
Together with our sacred friend
