The Wonder of a Heart Like God’s

There are some things about this vast universe that simply boggle our minds.

  • It’s estimated that we can only see 2% of the actual spectrum of light….only 2%.
  • There are roughly 7 other dimensions of time and space we can’t comprehend.
  • 90% of the cells in our brain (glial) have no known function.

These are definite human limitations to our full understanding of God and His creation. We can’t even sunlight innercomm bill starkbegin to imagine the colors and sounds we will experience in heaven.  Paul spoke of the vastness of this disconnect.

But as it is written, eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. -1 Corinthians 2:9 (KJV)

Even with all the incomprehensible, complex majesty of the universe, God chose to make us in His  image.  Imagine that.  Made to reflect His image…to look like Him in some way.  Even Jesus looked like us, yet was also fully God.

So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. – Genesis 1:27

If you think about it you can surely remember bursts of pure joy you’ve experienced in your heart toward a dear person in your life.  You’ve also experienced a deep satisfying love for someone.  You’ve marveled and had your breath taken away by exquisite creativity.  Your heart has experienced all these things.  That bursting in your heart, that powerful reverberation, is a beautiful hint of God’s heart.

Unlike the vast disconnect in our understanding of the universe, there are many heart-ways we connect with and even mirror our creator.

~~~~~~
“After removing Saul, he made David their king. He testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.” – Acts 13:22
~~~~~~

If He put joy, love and creativity in us it’s because it’s a reflection of Him. If our hearts yearn for beauty, reconciliation, healing, love, wisdom, joy, fellowship, wellness….then, His heart yearns for and has capacity for those things as well…perhaps by an order of magnitude.  That should be a very comforting thought for you.

~~~~~~
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully madeyour works are wonderful, I know that full well. – Psalm 139: 13-14
When you are at your most Christ-like self, living for Him and others in peace and joy, you can actually get a glimpse of the heart of God almighty…in your own heart.  When you are walking close to Him, your heart will actually look like a “chip off the old block”…..not exactly the same of course, but related….like family….because you are family.
Ezekiel 36:26-27, God’s Word says, “A new heart also will I give you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and will give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments and do them.”
Prayer
Father God, thank you for making us in your image.  Thank you for giving us a new heart.  Thank you for shaping our heart to look and feel like Yours.  Thank you for allowing us to experience your beauty, love, joy and creativity.   Thank you for inspiring us to live close to You, so that we more and more reflect your heart to those around us and draw them to You.  In Jesus name,  Amen.
