My Soul’s Reprieve

If you struggle with depression, guilt, loneliness, shame, sin, emptiness, sorrow….or if you sense that there are corners of your heart that are not aligned to the Maker….lift this prayer to God above.

My Soul’s Reprieve

My heavy heart, oh tired and gray

its weight I surely feel

longing for a fairer day

when buds to blossom deal.

~

Then from above a tear appears

and bits of light burst forth,

dark corners sigh and burden wanes

oh hint of life and birth.

~

Then from above a jewel appeared

it’s corners sharp as glass

and as the light crept up its side

the darkness began to pass.

~

Now the air is clear and light

where once was dark and brown

where days were dull and ever low

now life and joy abound…

as though I wore a King’s own crown.

~

Yet still there are more corners hid

where shadows do reside

my days again grow long and tired

but I no longer hide.

~

So come and shake my changing heart

oh light do come again

yes, cast aside the dreary parts

for this great work I cannot do

for I am weak and cannot see

the way a heart molds to You.

~

Yes You can make a way to clear

the tangles that I weave

You alone are able to

give my soul its sweet reprieve.

Psalm 25: 16 – 21 (NIV)

16Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted. 17 Relieve the troubles of my heart
and free me from my anguish. 18 Look on my affliction and my distress and take away all my sins. 19 See how numerous are my enemies  and how fiercely they hate me!

20 Guard my life and rescue me; do not let me be put to shame, for I take refuge in you. 21 May integrity and uprightness protect me, because my hope, LORD, is in you.
