Sheila Taormina

Olympic athlete Sheilia’s sports career took an interesting turn when she was forced to deal with overwhelming nervousness about her upcoming Olympic pursuit. She avoided attending Michigan for a swimming scholarship because the coach was “too Christian”. Ironically, she found herself attending the University of Georgia, in the heart of the Bible belt, surrounded by girls whose entire lives were mixed with Christianity. Sheila tells of her experience at the 2008 Beijing Olympics where she felt God’s presence and help after her sister’s prayer for her.
